Sometimes in life you are forced to make a choice- are you going to survive this or are you going to try your best to thrive with this. That's what we're talking about in this interview with Gemma Boak, from www.thisscientistsays.com with you.
Gemma was diagnosed at six years old with psoriasis and spent her life getting to know her condition, when at age thirty her condition changed, and she had to start all over again. She had a choice to make- and she decided to thrive.
She's started a website and blog all about empowering people suffering with the condition to educate themselves, find support and a sense of community, and take charge of their health and well-being - now that's something we are fully supportive of!
This podcast episode is longer than we usually do because it is absolutely fascinating and we felt we learned so much in this interview! Also, Gemma is such a sweetheart we enjoyed chatting with her too much to cut it off...
Here are a few of the things we discussed in passing 🙂
- A great cookbook called - Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking by Samin Nosrat.
- A great show on Netflix called Lovesick (and interesting ideas to help Maya's dating life).
Psoriasis support organisations:
Gemma's favourite online community for help and support (they have separate communities for most chronic diseases) https://www.inspire.com
And there was so so much more!
Also, just a reminder, it's not too late to join our Facebook group to enjoy daily affirmations and love all through January 🙂
Love, Maya Xx
