Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I mean, sure, we're not American, but there's something about the idea of a holiday devoted simply to developing an attitude of gratitude that's hard to resist... A holiday that gets family sitting around the table, sharing food, wine, and stories, and showing appreciation for having each other around is an idea we can respect.
Some of you might have a less idyllic view of what the holiday is, but if you remove your sarcasm and the commercial nonsense surrounding it, strip it back to basics, it's nice, right?
So what does it mean to give thanks for what we have? How does being appreciative make things change? What is it in our mindset that can be so easily changed and have such a huge impact on our lives?
In today's episode, we discuss how impactful it can be to stop and give thanks for ALL the things in our lives, whether they feel good or not!
"If you are not grateful for what you have now, what makes you think you will appreciate the things that you don't have?" London Mona.
Sure, sometimes it feels like life's just full of lemons, no lemonade, but the lemonade is ours for the making -If we just change the way we look at things.
For example, as I'm writing this now, I've got a cold and I could be busy complaining about how often I've got to blow my nose, but then I just might miss the most beautiful sunset outside my window now, and forget to appreciate how lucky I am to be able to watch the sky turn from grey to blue to the most spectacular shade of pink. I might not remember how lucky I am to have a beautiful view out my window, or even that I have a window which means I have a room of my own in a house of my own. I have a warm quilt to cuddle under, and a dog to cuddle me and keep me feeling snuggly. You see, once you start counting your blessings you just might find they are infinite while this cold will blow over (pun intended).
That's the sunset I'm watching, unfortunately, my iPhone did not do the colours justice. Still beautiful though.
We highly recommend you start a gratitude journal, or even simply develop a mindset of gratitude, counting your blessings in the car on your way to work, because once you do you'll never look back!
Hope you have the most beautiful week!
