Every once in a while, having a good clean up is the best thing to uplift your spirit. Sometimes, out possessions can weigh us down like long to-do lists that never get done.
It's too easy to get bogged down by possessions! Be it the pile of unread magazines (you still intend to read someday, when you get the time!), the clothes that no longer fit (but still might, right?) or in my case, piles and piles of books I've read and probably won't read again.
Challenging yourself not to wait until spring cleaning to get rid of some of the clutter in our lives is actually a great way to lift our spirits, and allow new energy into our home and our lives.
The best way to do it is to pick one drawer, cupboard or pile. Go through what you see and ask yourself honestly: do I want or need this? If the answer is no then the following questions to consider are:
- Do I know somebody who would enjoy this more?
- Can I donate this to someone who needs it?
- Which is the appropriate recycling bin for this?
When we learn to let go of our physical baggage, somewhere along the process we let go of some of our emotional baggage, and we start feeling better.
So If you haven't yet made plans for the weekend, that's what we reckon you should be doing!
